Deeper Release is Possible

The benefit of using suction (as opposed to compression in massage) is that some tissues have more room to move with suction. As the cups pull up, layers of tissue are decompressed, creating more space for circulation and access to deeper layers of tension.

Cupping is especially helpful for knots, tightness in the shoulders/back and hips, scar tissue, and shin splints.

what do i need to know before getting cupped?

Cupping sometimes leaves round marks on the body. Marks are usually gone within a few days, but may last up to two weeks.

not recommended for certain conditions

Cupping offers benefits for healthy adults, however it may not be appropriate for people with:

  • Certain diseases, infections, or medications

  • History of blood clots

  • Conditions affecting circulation, lymph, fluid retention or blood pressure

  • Pregnancy up to three months postpartum

  • Recent recovery from COVID-19

Additionally, cupping is not recommended within 48 hours of other bodywork (except chiropractic), spa treatments, or tanning.
